Abstract: Wang Maorong was one of the important participants in the transformation and development of Chinese librarianship and library science in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.He had participated in the extension of Hunan Library and served in Jiangnan Library and Jingshi Library successively.However, the academic circle had little knowledge of his life and library career.This paper sorts out Wang Maorong′s work experience in Hunan Library, Jiangnan Library and Jingshi Library, and summarizes his achievements in library science.The study found that Wang Maorong had made important contributions to the early development of Chinese librarianship and library science, as well as to the promotion of Japanese library thoughts into China.
